The Citizen Promaster at Sea, on Land and in the Air

The Citizen Promaster has been around for nearly thirty years, and during that time it has garnered the interest of adventurers worldwide for its sturdy construction, admirable safety specs and numerous functions geared toward a variety of fields. Here are some favorites that challenge the imagination and offer just what sports enthusiasts—and professionals—are looking for in the air, on the land or in the sea.

Limited Edition Super Titanium Skyhawk A-T

This multi-function model has a dual-time display, chronograph and atomic timekeeping in forty-three world cities. Its many other very useful features include a pilot’s rotating slide rule bezel, perpetual calendar, power reserve indicator, two alarms and luminous hands and indexes. The watch is powered by the Eco-Drive Cal. U680, which runs for about 1.5 years on a full charge and five years using the power save feature. Of course you can always place it in the light to add more run time.

Eco-Drive Altichron

The Citizen Altichron

The Citizen Altichron is equipped with a compass and an altimeter that can measure up to 32,000 feet. All its information displayed is in analog format, which means the user does not need to switch from the time display to check altitude or orientation. The watch is designed to reveal its functions intuitively, by coding the hand colors that indicate time and other information on the black dial.

Eco-Drive Professional Diver 1000m

Citizen Eco-Drive Professional Diver 1000M

The world’s first light-powered watch for 1,000-meter saturation diving, the Eco-Drive Professional Diver 1000m has a helium escape valve designed to prevent damage to the watch upon decompression. The Professional Diver has been subjected to rigorous tests, including one that maintains the watch for fifteen days in a pressurized, helium gas-filled chamber. It is then tested within three minutes of reverting back to atmospheric pressure to insure its continuous performance. The Eco-Drive Cal. J210 runs for about 2.5 years on full charge using the power save feature.

As for water resistance, Citizen doubled up its proprietary butyl rubber, which minimizes helium entry and keeps its shape for an extended period. The watch’s larger size (52.5mm), spherically shaped crystal, crown with lock mode, and helium escape valve at 10 o’clock all work in concert to achieve greater water resistance as well.

The watch’s clamshell case design is crafted from Super Titanium in combination with the proprietary Duratect, a surface hardening technology that improves both shock resistance and scratch resistance. The bezel has an anti-reverse mechanism with locking feature, and when the bezel lock is set to “free,” an orange warning color is revealed.

The indexes and hands on the Professional Diver 1000m’s black dial are treated with luminous paint that has 2.2 times the afterglow brightness when compared to a conventional paint, which means you will benefit from high visibility under most light conditions. Additional attributes include a calendar and power reserve indicator. Price: $2,300
