Watch of the Day

Blancpain Ultraplate

The ultra-slim Blancpain Ultraplate (Ref. 6653Q-1504-55) is a part of the large and recognizable Villeret family. What sets this model apart is the sunburst dial and the retrograde small seconds.

The self-winding Caliber 7663Q powers the watch and is only 4.57mm thick and has a diameter 27mm diameter. Being an ultra-slim model, the movement doesn’t power many models in Blancpain’s collections. Another key model is another Ultraplate model, Ref. 6653Q-1529-55B.

Looking at the dial, the wearer is immediately drawn to the incredible effect of the sunburst dial. The grey color almost appears like a sand color and compliments the strap beautifully. The retrograde small seconds are seen at the bottom near 6 o’clock, while the metal hands work well with the silver-toned numerals. Flipping the watch over, the movement is visible on the back with a logo engraving.

The watch is placed on an alligator strap that is lined with alzavel.
