Porsche Design Chronotimer Rennsport Reunion VI

This past weekend saw the running of the sixth Porsche Rennsport Reunion at Laguna Seca, the world’s largest gathering of vintage and recent Porsche racecars. The event always attracts those individuals who have designed, engineered, and driven Porsches to victory in the world’s most famous sports car races.

As introduced earlier this year, Porsche Design celebrates the Reunion with its Chronotimer Rennsport Reunion VI Limited Edition. The watch, designed exclusively for the event and named the official commemorative timepiece of RRVI, is the third edition Rennsport Reunion watch from Porsche Design. Both previous editions sold out quickly, making each watch an immediate collector’s item. Expect this pattern to return with this new edition.

Available only in the United States, only seventy of these watches (correlating with the 70th Anniversary of Porsche Sports Cars) will ever be made, according to Porsche Design.

In this latest release, Porsche Design brings racing to the wrist in a way that integrates a splash of color in contrast to the ebony main. With the current ubiquity of the black liveried watch, it’s worth noting that long before the current popularity of the type Porsche Design had embraced and embodied dark designs.

This year, touches of slate blue, red, and white break up the monochrome look while varying depths and textures on the dial impart a detailed level of design and build. Inside the wearable 42mm solid titanium case beats a nicely finished Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph.

The black calf-leather strap, made from original Porsche interior leather and yarn, uses contrasting red stitching and a titanium double-folding clasp with black titanium-carbide coating and an integrated quick-change strap system. Each timepiece comes in a limited edition collector’s watch box, including a numbered Rennsport Reunion plaque and special booklet that relates the history of Porsche Rennsport Reunion, Porsche Design, and the official timepiece itself.

“With a heritage intrinsically linked to Porsche cars and motorsports, Porsche Design is honored to be named the official commemorative timepiece brand for the 2018 celebration,” says Jan Becker, Porsche Design Group CEO. “Delivering an exceptional timepiece was our goal, and I think we accomplished just that.”
