G-SHOCK Polishes its Original

(Sponsored post) Inspired by the first G-SHOCK, this upgraded original combines polished and brushed finishes on the case, band and bezel, emphasizing its Full Metal construction. As the newest of G-SHOCK 5000 lineup, the new G-SHOCK GMWB5000D-1 is sleek as ever with maximum metallic finishing that includes hairline finishing along the upper surface of the bezel and sides of the case, as well as mirror finishing on the case back.

Among the many technological advances G-SHOCK has developed since it debuted that first-ever DW5000C model, many have been aimed squarely at improving an already tough set of shock-resistance features. For example, with the advent of a new three-pronged lug structure, shocks to the connecting pipes and button shafts are dispersed. In addition, G-SHOCK now inserts fine-resin cushioning parts between the bezel case and the inner case. Besides achieving a highly accurate fit, this structure cushions the any blow to the watch.

Unknown thirty-five years ago, two-way time sync is today made possible thanks to Bluetooth Connectivity and the G-SHOCK app, as well as G-SHOCK’s Multi-Band 6 Atomic Timekeeping technology, which provides accurate timekeeping virtually anywhere via radio signals from up to six different transmitters worldwide.

The GMWB5000D-1 also incorporates a super illuminator LED light and solar battery. This means the watch is fully capable of self-charging.

On the front of the watch, the G-SHOCK GMWB5000D-1 designs of the logo, function display, digital LCD and other features to echo on those on the dial of the first G-SHOCK DW-5000C. G-SHOCK today uses a new type of solar panel as well. Earlier glass designs are now made from an easily processed film material.

The GMWB5000D-1 dial is clearer than ever. An opening provided in the center of the dial suppresses reflections of outside light to improve the LCD’s visibility with greater contrast and a wider viewing angle. The LED backlight on the G-SHOCK GMWB5000D-1 illuminates the LCD with high-brightness light that detects ambient light in the surroundings automatically, and switches on with a tilt of the wrist in the dark. New features such as fade in/out light add further versatility.

When used with the G-SHOCK app, additional cutting-edge G-SHOCK technology and features on the watch include:

- Automatic time adjustment (4 times/day)
