(Sponsored post) Combining a hybrid stainless steel and resin case with a lightweight, yet tough carbon fiber bezel, G-SHOCK has developed its new G-SHOCK MTGB1000XBD-1 and G-SHOCK MTGB1000XB-1A with the best of all three tough materials.
Based on the sophisticated G-SHOCK MTG-B1000, the two watches a feature somewhat slimmer case than previous non-connected models while adding the combination of Bluetooth-connected technology with Multi-Band 6 atomic timekeeping and solar-powered technology.
Most notably different with these blue or red-accented models, the carbon fiber bezel has been added in part to celebrate the MT-G collection’s 20th anniversary.
Technically, carbon fiber is as lightweight as plastic yet typically more durable than metal. It also has a high dimensional stability and resistance to thermal change. You’ve likely seen carbon fiber on race cars, which have extensively utilized advantages of the strong, lightweight and aesthetically pleasing material. When paired with high-transparency sapphire crystal over the dial, carbon fiber transforms both these MT-G models into race cars for your wrist.
Because G-SHOCK has also mastered the multilayer three-dimensional carbon fiber molding and cutting technology, the watchmaker is able to utilize the carbon fiber to construct the complex bezel parts. G-SHOCK molds two layers of sheets made from carbon fiber and colored glass fiber-reinforced plastic, and then combines them with resin.
The MTGB1000XBD-1 incorporates red accent layers and the MTG-B1000XB-1A incorporates white and blue accent layers. When viewed from the side, these colored layers create a contrast with the black carbon fiber layers.
The red-accented MTGB1000XBD-1 comes with a layered composite band. The band itself is a high-tech marvel. It combines fine resin and metal parts to optimize strength. The blue-accented MTGB1000XB-1A comes with a soft urethane band.
The G-SHOCK MTGB1000XBD-1 is priced at $1,100 and the G-SHOCK MTGB1000XB-1A is priced at $1,000. Both models are available at G-SHOCK retailers, including select Macy's, select jewelers, gshock.com and the G-SHOCK Soho Store.
